It’s winter here in New Zealand, and I have a cold, so this bright case file from CSI:Color Stories Inspiration is great for bringing some colour into my grey days! We, as always, have some fantastic sponsors, and this file is open to be solved until the 23rd July, so you have plenty of time to play along, More details and inspiration can be found here.
Another major case file is out for you to solve from CSI:Color Stories Inspiration, and the colours are just gorgeous. I love how these challenges make me mix and match colours I wouldn’t think to put together myself. You have until the end of July 2015 to play along. All 5 colours in the scheme were used, with white and turquoise being predominant, little hints of that butter yellow and of the orange, and the misting done in a copper tone.
For the evidence prompts, I went for: Solid background, light bulbs, stars, rub ons, and pearls.
For my Testimony, I went with the Inspiration Words: “I love this photo of our family. You can just see our happiness shining through, and it lights up the picture. My childhood was filled with sweetness, joy, laughter, and lots of fun.
I had challenged myself to complete this layout within 30 minutes, and to just commit to sticking things down. I had it finished at 29:17, so just in time! You can find my process video for this layout here.
While I had my house on the market, I had packed up my craft area. That was a hard 6 weeks! I did have some kits and basic supplies left out as I attended a crop, so I still managed to get a few layouts done over that time. I’m so happy to be in our new house, and I get a whole craft room all to myself! My husband gets his own man cave too 🙂
I have put some sneak peaks of a few of my favourite layouts below, and I have a video which runs through all the layouts in detail, including products and inspiration, which can be found here.
Another case file has opened at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration, and I am loving the bright colours. At first I thought I would do a more masculine layout, as that seemed to naturally be where the scheme and evidence were pointing me. Upon rifling through my photos, I found pictures of me, my sister, and our good friend, and the photos just happened to coordinate. I had a red blanket over my knee, and the other 2 girls had on a yellow and a blue grey top each, I don’t usually worry about being too matchy-matchy, but in this case it was perfect! You have until the 9th July to play along, and, as always, we have amazing sponsors lined up for prizes! I also used the Scraptastic kits from June: Can’t Go Home Main Kit and Can’t Go Home Add On for the majority of my supplies.
All 5 colours of the scheme used.
Evidence: Stripes, grid pattern, Transparency, and a pair of something(stars).
Testimony – Inspo Words: “These photos make me so happy. Me with my twin sister, Lauren, and our longest and dearest friend Deirdre. We have all hung out together since we were four. I’m lucky to have found such a lasting and loyal friend.”
You can find the process video for this layout here.
Welcome to another bright and inspiring layout from CSI: Color Stories Inspiration. As soon as I saw the red in the colour scheme and that the testimony prompts included to write about how you get around, I knew the perfect photos.
I used all 5 colours in the scene, for the evidence I used a map/globe, transportation, brads, and polka dots/stripes. You can see close ups and my final layout below. Also, you can watch me put my layout together by watching my process video here.
There’s a bright, whimsical case file ready for you to solve over at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. You have the whole month to play along too! I am in the process of selling my house, so it was perfect timing for me to get a layout about my home completed. If you like, you can watch this layout come together in my process video for this inspiration. I used all the colours, with a focus on the green shade. For my evidence I used flowers, hearts, wood, decorative borders, and metal. For the Testimony, I journaled about home. I have the Case File, close ups, and my final layout below.
Happy National Scrapbook Day! Hope you’re all having a creative day so far, and are able to play along with some challenges this weekend. I am so very excited to have been invited to be on the Design Team at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration. If you have been following my blog or YouTube channel, then you will know I often base my layouts on their Case Files. The first one up for March has most of my favourite colours – green, turquoise, and fawn; so I loved creating around this inspiration. You can watch my video process on this layout here.
The guidelines for the Case Files are to use all 5 colours, at least 2 options from the Evidence list, and at least 1 option from the Testimony list. For my Evidence, I went for frames, washi tape, bottle/jar, and a heart.
For my testimony I journaled about a mishap, framed my story, and used the inspiration words. Our cat, Ernie, was a bit accident prone, and this layout tells the story of his misadventures, especially this major one where he perforated his eye. He recovered fully, but was left with a scar that you could see in his iris. I think our vet made a lot of money out of his mishaps!
I do hope you will pop on over to CSI, and play along with our Case Files. Here is my finished layout, I really like the cluster at the top, and how the framed journaling came together. Thanks for stopping by!
When I read the Testimony prompts, I knew I wanted to do a layout about a family holiday when I was 9 years old, and journal my feelings and memories from this trip.
For the evidence I used travel elements (the globe, camera, and skyline flair), frames, a transparent item, chevrons, and a stamp.
The latest case file over at CSI:Color, Stories, Inspiration was all about cameras, and selfies. So I took a picture of me, and realised I looked a bit lacklustre, and thought I would just use it anyway, as in real life we’re not smiling 100% of the time! You can find my process video here, and here is a picture of the Case File 157.
As per the rules, I used all 5 colours in the scheme. For my evidence (you need to use at least 2) I used metal, cameras, and eyeglasses. In this close up you can see the metal element in both the star and arrow clips. and also the cameras on the washi tape layer.
For the Testimony, I used two prompts; Selfie, and the Inspo Words. My journalling reads ‘Click. A selfie is taken. I capture me in a moment of time. Right now, I am feeling uncertain, disappointed, burnt out. But tomorrow is a new day. It gets better’.
And here is my final layout. I used elements from the Scraptastic Club Counting Stars Kit, and a lot from my own stash.
The latest Case file over at CSI:Color Sotires Inspiration is just so pretty & soft. When I saw the testimony prompts I knew exactly what photo I wanted to create with. I used all 5 of the Scheme colours, as per the challenge rules, and the following evidence prompts; Dots/Stripes, String, Branches, Animals, Misting, & Mix Fonts. You need to use at least 2, so I definitely met that criteria! Finally, you need to pick at least one Testimony to inspire your journaling, and I used 2; Document a special childhood toy, and Inspo Words: Cuddle, Companion, and Special. I have some close ups and a picture of the layout to follow, and you can watch my process video for this layout here.
Here’s a close up where you can see my use of branches, dots, stripes, and animals (I just love that little squirrel). Even though the layout has nothing to do with animals, the inclusion of the squirrel motifs added to the whimsical, childhood feel I was going for.
