Welcome to another bright and inspiring layout from CSI: Color Stories Inspiration. As soon as I saw the red in the colour scheme and that the testimony prompts included to write about how you get around, I knew the perfect photos. 164 flat

I used all 5 colours in the scene, for the evidence I used a map/globe, transportation, brads, and polka dots/stripes. You can see close ups and my final layout below. Yay for bright, happy, and fun layouts! This week, Jen and I are taking our inspiration from Nancy Damiano. I found a page of hers I absolutely loved and thought I would use it as a starting point for my own layout. I was drawn to the rainbow colours, the grid style layout, and the use of frames. You can watch my process on video here. Please scroll down for close ups and a full picture of my creation! There’s a bright, whimsical case file ready for you to solve over at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration. You have the whole month to play along too! I am in the process of selling my house, so it was perfect timing for me to get a layout about my home completed. If you like, you can watch this layout come together in my process video for this inspiration. I used all the colours, with a focus on the green shade. For my evidence I used flowers, hearts, wood, decorative borders, and metal. For the Testimony, I journaled about home. I have the Case File, close ups, and my final layout below. cc-5Doilies and Gems Paint and PunchesWood and EpoxyMy First Home

Design Team Debut!

Happy National Scrapbook Day! Hope you’re all having a creative day so far, and are able to play along with some challenges this weekend. I am so very excited to have been invited to be on the Design Team at CSI: Color Stories Inspiration. If you have been following my blog or YouTube channel, then you will know I often base my layouts on their Case Files. The first one up for March has most of my favourite colours – green, turquoise, and fawn; so I loved creating around this inspiration. You can watch my video process on this layout here. 163

The guidelines for the Case Files are to use all 5 colours, at least 2 options from the Evidence list, and at least 1 option from the Testimony list. For my Evidence, I went for frames, washi tape, bottle/jar, and a heart. Layers

For my testimony I journaled about a mishap, framed my story, and used the inspiration words. Our cat, Ernie, was a bit accident prone, and this layout tells the story of his misadventures, especially this major one where he perforated his eye. He recovered fully, but was left with a scar that you could see in his iris. I think our vet made a lot of money out of his mishaps!Be Brave

I do hope you will pop on over to CSI, and play along with our Case Files. Here is my finished layout, I really like the cluster at the top, and how the framed journaling came together. Thanks for stopping by!163 - Catastrophe

A Page Inspired By Paige

Welcome to the third episode of the ‘Inspired By…’ series I am doing in collaboration with Jen Schow. This layout we have drawn our inspiration from Paige Evans. The following three pages are the ones that I chose to get motivated to create. I loved the clusters of similar coloured punched shapes and embellishment, and the use of punches. You can find my process video for my layout here.

I chose yellow, teal, and navy as my colour scheme, with hints of gold. I used two different sized butterfly punches, and various embellishments and papers from the March Hip Kit, and the Rivers and Roads Scraptastic Kit??????????????????????????????? I think navy, teal, and gold have featured in so many of my recent layouts, I just love these colours! I also love the dimension the punched butterflies give the page. Embellishments Galore Here is my completed layout, it’s a bit different than my usual format, but I just love how it turned out, and it still fits well in my album beside my other pages. I kept my clusters of three enamel dots, added mist, and layered paper behind the photos to make it in keeping with my regular style. Smitten

Remembering a Road Trip

Another beautiful Case File is up at CSI, and this one has a peaceful, monochromatic feel. I just had to solve it! You can see the full process video here160flat

When I read the Testimony prompts, I knew I wanted to do a layout about a family holiday when I was 9 years old, and journal my feelings and memories from this trip.

???????????????????????????????

For the evidence I used travel elements (the globe, camera, and skyline flair), frames, a transparent item, chevrons, and a stamp. Makes me Happy

Here is the completed layout, thanks for stopping by and hopefully you will play along with some of the Case Files!Road Trip

‘ Inspired By…’ with Juliet and Jen: Shimelle Laine

Welcome to the second installment of the ‘Inspired By…’ series I am doing along with Jen Schow, where we take inspiration from a person, or a moodboard, or another layout, or anything that strikes us with ideas! You can find the video process of this layout here. This episode we chose Shimelle Laine. Watching her videos was what got me back into scrapbooking and finding my own style, so it was an inspiration that was very special to me. I knew I wanted to start with a large chipboard element, as a lot of Shimelles pages have a large embellishment on them. I chose a camera as that is one of her favourite motifs. Camera Close UpI then went through some layouts on her Pinterest Board, and came across this one, which I particularly liked. I wanted to include the circular cluster at the top of the page, and the placement of the other 2 clusters, as well as the long title with 3 different fonts, and the woodgrain elements. Inspiration everywhere!1b0ad925a91b123ee87c150ebdb2010f

The more subtle inspired elements I have included are to use the camera motif 3 times on my page (you will notice the layout by Shimelle includes woodgrain washi at each embellishment cluster, she often brings the same element to three different points on the page in a visual triangle) and to also ensure each colour is used at each of the 3 different points as well (light blue, navy, gold, and kraft). Sprinkled Circles

Here is another close up where you can see that camera motif again, and then an arrow I have used which mirrors an arrow on the wood veneer piece on the other side of the layout. Labels and Flags

Here is the final layout, still with my style, but full of inspiration from the wonderful Shimelle Laine!Smile

The latest case file over at CSI:Color, Stories, Inspiration was all about cameras, and selfies. So I took a picture of me, and realised I looked a bit lacklustre, and thought I would just use it anyway, as in real life we’re not smiling 100% of the time! You can find my process video here, and here is a picture of the Case File 157.157

As per the rules, I used all 5 colours in the scheme. For my evidence (you need to use at least 2) I used metal, cameras, and eyeglasses. In this close up you can see the metal element in both the star and arrow clips. and also the cameras on the washi tape layer. Blerg

Here’s a close up of where I used the eyeglasses, which were from a Shimelle collection rub on pack.Let it go

For the Testimony, I used two prompts; Selfie, and the Inspo Words. My journalling reads ‘Click. A selfie is taken. I capture me in a moment of time. Right now, I am feeling uncertain, disappointed, burnt out. But tomorrow is a new day. It gets better’. Title and writing

And here is my final layout. I used elements from the Scraptastic Club Counting Stars Kit, and a lot from my own stash. 157 - Selfie

Case File 158 Solved

The latest Case file over at CSI:Color Sotires Inspiration is just so pretty & soft. When I saw the testimony prompts I knew exactly what photo I wanted to create with. I used all 5 of the Scheme colours, as per the challenge rules, and the following evidence prompts; Dots/Stripes, String, Branches, Animals, Misting, & Mix Fonts. You need to use at least 2, so I definitely met that criteria! Finally, you need to pick at least one Testimony to inspire your journaling, and I used 2; Document a special childhood toy, and Inspo Words: Cuddle, Companion, and Special. I have some close ups and a picture of the layout to follow, and you can watch my process video for this layout here. Case FIle 158

Here’s a close up where you can see my use of branches, dots, stripes, and animals (I just love that little squirrel). Even though the layout has nothing to do with animals, the inclusion of the squirrel motifs added to the whimsical, childhood feel I was going for. Pretty cluster

And in this close up, you can see the touch of green in my journaling, as well as the string element.Layered Cluster

This is how my overall layout came together, I’m really pleased at how all the prompts worked to help inspire my page. Suzy Doll
